Constipation: disease or symptom?.


The constipation is the lack of regular bowel movements, which may vary from three bowel movements per day to three a week. There are two types of constipation :

a) Passenger: it is casual and occurs when there are sudden changes in a person's daily routines.
b) Chronic: is produced by disease. Physiologically

constipation due to the following disorders:

1) intestinal hypomotility (few PERISTAT movements) is caused by hypotonia or decreased intestinal muscle strength performing contractions to expel stool.
2) intestinal hypermotility (excessive PERISTAT movements) or involuntary spasms and persistent part of the intestine that holds the stool and prevents proper drainage.
3) Proctógeno or cause rectal occurs when the stool passes through the rectum, not enough to trigger the reflex that a person make a normal defecation
4) mechanical obstruction of the colon or rectum, and colon injuries

Usually, the Constipation is caused by poor eating habits, lack of water intake, vegetables, fruit and fiber. It is also associated with lack of exercise, and lately it much related to stress levels that are continually subjected the individual.
Constipation can not be regarded as a disease but a symptom of some serious diseases such such as Parkinson , depression, multiple sclerosis , cerebral thrombosis, dementia , bowel syndrome irritable, colon cancer , among others.

To combat constipation is recommended that:

- Intake of foods rich in fiber and low in fat.
- Drink plenty of water and fruit juices.
- Exercise at least three times a week and avoid sedentarism or .

If your constipation persists despite practicing the above tips you must visit a specialist, who will prescribe the appropriate drugs according to their disease.
